As a cultural association, with
more than 10 years doing different activities, covering the summer of
each year, where the sculpture plays a prominent role, driven by the sculptor
Alain Tenenbaum, combined with the different arts: theater performances,
music , cinema, reading poetry, cuisine, sculpture courses, ...
The place is fantastic, surrounded by woods, an old abandoned stone quarry,
it creates an amazing journey for the visitor, where the caves and walls
have offered to sculptors of very different backgrounds, to do their jobs.
It's been a couple of years they decided not to carving walls to avoid
saturating the space, and free-standing sculptures are made now in a block
to place them in a new project.
Each year they choose a topic on which the artists will work. This year
they have chosen the Arabo-Andalusian culture. I present a flamenco dancer,
highlighting the typical physical expression of this dance, combined with
the traditional frilly dress.
Limestone, similar stone which was obtained from these old quarries,
very sweet to work, an important condition because the work must be done
by hand tools 100%. Measures working block: 80 x 80 x 230 cm, on a base
of a meter.
My work period: from July 12 to August 31, 2014
For this edition, they were selected: Natalie Staniforth (UK), Yasushi
Hori (Japan), Alain Trehard (France) and three representatives of Spain:
Dario Jimenez, Josep Manuel Moraleda y Pedro Jordan. In the neighboring
quarries of Crazannes, also included four French sculptors: Alain Dony,
Florence Jarrige, Alain Vandenbrouck and Victor Grenier.
