“5th China (Hui’an) Carving Art Festival & International Stone Carving Symposium "

 

                                              
                                                                                                   

From 5 to December 20, 2009

The symposium is sponsored by the Professional Committee of Chinese Sculpture, Government Hui'an County, the Sculpture Magazine and Hui'an China Carving Art Institute.

Along a 25 sculptors Chinese national, 10 international we were selected to participate in this festival: Nicolae Razvan Mincu (Romania), Asano Hiroyuki (Japan), Agnessa Petrova (Bulgaria), Batu Siharulidze (USA), Giorgio Cpajek (Serbia), Victar Kopach (Belarus), Ayhan Kayapinar (Turkey), So Dong Choe (Korea), Fetiye Boudevin (France) and Pedro Jordán (Spain).

My project made "Chrysalis II" remember of a stylized form of the classic Venus and seeks to reflect metaphorically the moment when the butterfly emerges from the cocoon of protection, ... metamorphosis has occurred. It's an amazing natural symbol that everything can change, a worm can turn into a beautiful butterfly.

Carved in a cream-colored granite with a height of 3.40 meters.

In this area of China, five million people live of work in stone, especially granite. Very good opportunity to learn their techniques.
